The Comanche and Karankawa lived in different places. This affected their food, homes, and ways of traveling.

|---|---|---|
| Where? | Open grasslands in Comanchería. The size of this homeland changed over time. [S1] [S3] | Islands, bays, marshes, and grasslands along the coast, from about Galveston Bay to Corpus Christi Bay. [S2] |
| Food | Buffalo was a main food. People also ate deer, antelope, rabbits, plants, and foods from trade. [S1] [S4] | Fish, shellfish, deer, bison, roots, fruit, and other local foods. The foods they found changed with the seasons. [S2] [A1] |

Both learned how to use the food and materials around them. Knowing the land helped them survive. [S1] [S2]
Both traveled with family groups. They moved when they needed food, water, better weather, or safety. [S1] [S2] [A1]
Both traded with nearby people. Both also faced disease, settlers taking land, and fighting after Europeans arrived. [S1] [S2]
They had some things in common, but they were still different peoples with their own cultures.
Both groups knew the places they traveled to. They used their skills and experience to decide where to go.
This project uses information from different time periods. An early account of coastal life and a later account of Comanche horse riding do not describe the same year. We need to check the dates. [A2] [P1] [S3]
